Could Kanye West’s Yeezy 350 Become A Soccer Cleat?

Deandre Hopkins Yeezy 350

If you haven’t caught up with the latest wild frenzy in sports footwear it is adidas confirmed release date (September 15th) for the Kanye West designed Yeezy 350 football cleats. Yes, my friends, Kanye has added the title of official sports footwear designer to his illustrious resume. This past weekend, Houston Texans star DeAndre Hopkins teased his pair of “Turtle Dove” 350 cleats on social media, as did Adrian Peterson, so there is serious interest from big name players in what they have on offer.

That got us thinking. Is it possible that we could see Kanye West designed boots being worn by top professional soccer players at some point? By looking at the tech details on this version, it definitely seems like something that could happen:

The YEEZY 350 cleat is Kanye West’s premier cleat model developed with adidas Football. The YEEZY 350 cleat features the iconic YEEZY PRIMEKNIT: a breakthrough material developed using adidas’ most advanced digital engineering techniques to fit like a second skin and is reinforced with SPRINTSKIN, providing lightweight lateral support. This sits atop the 5-STAR frame that provides the optimum blend of lightweight, strength and traction.

adidas are obviously taking the process very seriously by creating something that is built on enhanced product development techniques. We have already seen the positive impact of PRIMEKNIT in soccer cleats, and the emphasized focus on “lightweight, strength and traction” is something we have become familiar with brands promoting. There would obviously have to be some modifications for the shoe to transcend from american football to “real” football, but I highly doubt that would be a stumbling block for the three-stripe.

When you factor in the huge interest in the custom built Yeezy Ace released late last year, things get even more interesting.  As a completely wearable boot, they were released in a very limited edition – 10 pairs in total, made to order – and you had to supply your own set of Yeezy’s to make it happen!

The next big question is which soccer players would you get to wear them? Any suggestions?
