Diadora Reinvented – Introducing The “Brasil Italy OG”

In an attempt to reinvent their status as a leading soccer brand, Diadora has released the Brasil Italy OG, and they have gone all out to produce something that is just a little extra special. Rather than your standard run of the mill release, this boot and its presentation announces the comeback of one of the market’s most iconic boots. Built using the same manufacturing quality and materials as the original Brasil, this “Made in Italy” production evokes a real life connection to their namesake.

This is a boot intended to satisfy the most demanding soccer players, with a quality full-grain kangaroo leather upper, water repellent treatment and layered forefoot stitching ensuring the utmost softness to the touch, as well as wrapping around your feet perfectly and providing a super comfortable fit.

In terms of presentation, and this is where your initial reaction plays a role in the overall experience with the boot, Diadora has done a phenomenal job. The box they sit in illustrates the first evidence of how much quality is on offer. Magnets on the lid keep it held down in place, with a fresh Diadora Football logo providing a modern look.

Once you open the lid, you are greeted to a crisp graphic on the underside. It is a graphic that pays homage to the handcrafted, made in Italy styling of the boot. Inside, you get a quality textile boot bag. This is something we normally don’t see Diadora include, but my word it is an important piece of the presentation. This is a step up from the norm with massive upside. A paper-wrap with “Football” text is used to protect the boot, and there is also a mini-pamphlet included that gives some history about the range and what this particular release represents.

There is so much to detail on this release, which we plan to do in a thorough review over the coming weeks. Not going to lie; I’m super excited to get these boots on to the pitch. From initial interaction with them, I can tell you they fit ever so slightly long. Where the Puma evoSPEED series is a quarter size tight, the Diadora Brasil Italy fits about a quarter size loose. You can see from the above image that the angle forefoot provides some extra give, and I’ve a feeling that players in need of a more spacious fit will take a look at what these have on offer!

Hydro-tech microfiber is used to line the inside of the leather and tongue to keep your foot padded and dry for a full game, even in the wettest conditions. Underfoot, things have been kept classically minimal with a comfort outsole and 12 fixed conical studs helping to make every turn and touch stable and fixed. Weight wise, the drop in at 8.8oz.

Are they available to purchase right now? YES THEY ARE! As part of the boots introduction to the market, Diadora has released a classic Black version along with this retro styled White/Blue colorway. I’m stoked to have received the White/Blue version, even if that crisp and clean colorway is likely to only last a few weeks. The combo offers a modern heritage styling that I’m more than happy to wear! I’ll let you know how they work on from a performance perspective in the coming weeks via a comprehensive review.

The one stumbling point here will be price, with Diadora slapping a hefty $270 on a pair. We are somewhat devoid of true classic boots on the market right now, so there is huge potential from a release like this. Having a number of players willing to drop so much on a pair might prove slightly more challenging. Only time will tell us how they really do.
