Customs and Concepts: Swoosh Customs

Customs and Concepts is back (admittedly tardy, but that’s besides the point), and in this edition we’re featuring one of the most well known Instagrammers in the game Swooshcustoms72. As you can probably tell by his handle, Swoosh is well known for customizing and creating concepts for boots based on those from Nike, here’s some of his work that we at SC101 Towers are quite partial to.

Nike Magistri

Despite replacing the much vaunted CTR 360 line in early 2014, the CTR 360 still has a following among a substantial number of players. So a boot combining the best best of the current generation Nike control boot with the best of the previous incarnation is a winner. The Flyknit upper of the Magista has been teamed with the Kanga-Lite forefoot of the original CTR 360 Maestri in a best of both worlds frankenboot design. Is such an idea really possible? Well the Tech Craft series has shown that it’s possible to attach K-Leather to Flyknit so why not Nike’s K-Leather synthetic substitute?

Nike Hypervenom II Phantom World Cup 2010 Pack

When the Hypervenom II debuted it was in an orange and beige (kind of boring for a massive silo update), however, it would have been brilliant to bring back this solid colourway from the 2010 World Cup. The purple and orange from the World Cup 2010 pack suits the styling of Nike’s big agility boot down to the ground and given the clip that Wayne Rooney has been scoring (or not scoring) this season, it’d be just like his performance in the 2010 World Cup.

Nike Messifly

It’s the move that could never happen, but what if Nike stumped up the cash to pry Lionel Messi from Adidas? Well first things first Cristiano Ronaldo would probably go mental having to share brand spotlight with his largest rival, but second we’d get to see boots designed to the exact specifications, like this hybrid between the Messi 15.1 and the Mercurial Superfly. Combining the dynamic fit collar with the messiFRAME the hypothetical boot would offer an extremely locked in fit.

Nike Magista Obra “Night of Gold”

There’s just something about a black and gold boot which just screams “CLASS” and the Night of Gold Magista Obra is certainly no exception. If Nike actually released something like this it’d sell out quickly. The all black flyknit upper looks positively rakish (a definite case of less is more) and the gold accents are a flawless addition. And it’s not just the Magista, you should definitely check out the entire Night of Gold collection, because the whole thing is on a different level.

Nike Mercurial Roshe Electro Flare

Before the Yeezy Boost 350 there was the Nike Roshe, and since there’s been a Yeezy Ace (more art exhibit than boot but that’s another matter), surely the time is now for a combination of the Mercurial Vapor and the Nike Roshe. It’d be perfect to pair with a pair of track bottoms on your way to a match, especially as the Roshe are well known for their super comfort. The combination in play here is lovely too, the Electro Flare colourway is teamed with the blue lagoon sole from the NikeiD edition Roshe, you could definitely see Zlatan rocking up to the PSG team bus in a pair of these.
