With the most consistent player in MLS on their books (Jermaine Jones) and the prospect of Memphis Depay signing for Manchester United, there is a new wave of optimism floating around the halls of Under Armour soccer HQ. Then this morning, they introduced a new revolutionary boot – welcome in the UA SpeedForm.
This is a completely different type of engineered speed boot with some serious tech specs. And the best part is that its construction makes complete sense – there is plenty of forward thinking from UA on these boots!
The 7.4 oz SpeedForm is engineered with a seamless molded heel cup and form-fitting mesh upper that combine to feel like an extension of the foot. For extra explosiveness on the pitch, it’s built on a virtually weightless Chrome Pebax soleplate that provides incredible traction and an explosive first step.

And looking at the forefoot, you might notice a completely revolutionary upper construction. A single piece upper is used, with the sport’s first-ever articulated toe box area. Following the contours of your toes, it is intended to mold perfectly to the foot to eliminate distractions. This is UA’s attempt to change the standard of fit and feel in boots designed for the sport’s fastest footballers.
Memphis Depay, one of football’s most promising young talents, has been wearing the boots in competition since March 1 during the final run-in for his team’s league championship.
The UA SpeedForm boots were amazing from the first time out of the box. Speed is one of my greatest assets and the fit and comfort of these boots allow me to react and move without even thinking.
The UA SpeedForm are currently available to order from soccer.com, retail $219.99.
I would just like to say that I own the old UA speedform running shoes and they are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. They are also surprisingly durable and have lasted me almost a year now.
