We were lucky enough to have our very own Gerry Lepkowski head to the launch of the Mizuno Performance Center in London this past week, where Mizuno’s latest boot – the new Morelia Neo – was also on display. Best of all, Gerry also got a pair of boots to wear and test out. Here are some details of the event, with images and details on how he liked the boots.
For those of you interested in picking up Mizuno boots here in the US, your best shot to pick up a pair is to search for Mizuno Soccer on eBay!
The Mizuno Performance Center has been set up in London to allow competitors to discover what Elite performance is all about. Mizuno recently released the Seiei collection, which is a range of products that covers several sports including Soccer, Running, Handball, Volleyball and Swimming. ‘Seiei’ is Japanese for the word ‘elite’ and with over a century’s experience in introducing technical sporting goods to numerous sporting arenas around the world, Mizuno has historically acquired the services of some of the most elite names and teams in sport. There are several different areas set-up at the event, where you can test out products and challenge your own skill levels.
Included was a soccer specific Speed and Accuracy challenge, with sensors tracking your shot into a small sized goal. This allowed us an opportunity to test out the Morelio Neo and see how comfortable they felt while striking solid shots. While wearing them, the Morelia Neo felt nice and comfortable, quite light overall and I had a few shots on the artificial surface. The only thing I personally didn’t like was the feeling across the top of my foot, along the laces area. In terms of traction they felt solid, with the old fashioned moulded studs dispersing pressure very evenly.
For those interested in checking out the event, it is open to the public through August 12th. In order to guarantee a spot to attend, check out the Performance Center homepage for full details.
Pro-direct soccer is also a good way to get a pair!
