One of my preferred choices when it comes to turf shoes is the Adidas adi5 X range, especially when you add the fact that they double very nicely as an everyday shoe! It has nearly been a year since I tested the Lemon Peel/Fairway colorway, so last week I picked up one of the latest releases in the range. This pair come in a really sweet Sharp Blue/Electricity that I will be using very often as an everyday wear around shoe.
One thing I did notice is that this latest version offers a very different visual design and Touch Compound region to previous adi5 X releases. On this version, the rubber treatment that runs around the front of the boot comes in a more uniform horizontal line format, compared to a criss-cross design on other versions. It is pretty easy to spot in the images. My one complaint about the original criss-cross design was its durability; after several wears it started to crack and rub off. But, it seems like Adidas has made a positive change on this release.
In terms of sizing, think “sneaker” as that is exactly how these fit. They have plenty of padding and support, so in general they work quiet well as a walking/running shoe but you need to remember that the sole is specifically designed for artificial turf. I found them to be a little wider than regular size soccer cleats as the joining of the upper to sole is less dramatic.
If you are looking to pick up a pair, they are available at WeGotSoccer for $54 – which is absolute value for money making them an ideal purchase.
Nice! I have been considering getting a pair.
gorgeous.
