Nike has still to confirm a release date for their new Mercurial Superfly after it was pulled from the market before its official launch a few weeks ago. It has been confirmed that the reason they were not released was because of the cleat coming apart upon harsh impact. Although the cleats have seen huge success with current top flight players (including Didier Drogba, Cristiano Ronaldo and Andrey Arshavin), there was a fear that injuries could result from heavy collisions. This was actually spotted with Luis Fabiano when his Superfly’s ripped during a game and the inner toe area of his right cleat separated from the base of the cleat.
Nike remain confident that they can fix the problem, and hope to have the cleats on the market well in advance for next season. The only thing being that the relaunch will not include the Max Orange/Abyss/Silver colorway. What this means is if you want the current colorway, they will only be available as the Vapor V. Keep posted for more information on their actual launch date.
