adidas continue their partnership with Marvel by releasing a special “Cyclops” edition of the X Ghosted. They are part of a unique superhero themed X-men collection of boots, joining Wolverine on the Predator FREAK. Talk about two releases that perfectly match their intended superhero to an specific adidas boot silo!
If you are looking for a cleat that pays tribute to superhuman power on and off the field, these could be the pair. X has mutated to give you superhuman acceleration, with key Cyclops and Marvel X-Men graphics that light up the Fluroskin upper and insole. There is plenty of detailing right throughout – as detailed below – creating a very unmistakable look on pitch. Some might see these as more of a collectors item, but if you do wear them in a game, expect to receive comments from other players!
Around the entry, a low-cut Clawcollar locks your foot into the boot for game-changing stability – this is one of my favorite pieces to the release. The official colorway is listed as Blue/Vivid Red/Bright Yellow, matching the vivid costume design worn by Cyclops. It is a case of, what would Cyclops wear if he was on a soccer pitch?
There is a lot going on underfoot also. Looking inside the boot, one of the first things you will notice is a unique sock liner, complete with original drawings of the characters, created by the Marvel illustrators. Hidden under that is a springy Carbitex carbon-fiber insert on the outsole that helps you blast through your rivals on firm ground, while a raised forefoot keeps you on your toes.
There are two versions of the boot available, you can choose from the X Ghosted.1 ($224.99) and the laceless X Ghosted+ ($274.99) pending your preference. The pictured version is the Ghosted.1 that features laces – personally, my choice of boot.
