A new generation of Mercurial Superfly is set for release, with the design of the new Mercurial drawing inspiration from the natural geometry of a Dragonfly’s wing. This gives the Swoosh a guide for driving maximum efficiency with minimal weight. As a result, what you get is a lightweight, efficient boot stripped to 7 key components, each made visible for an arresting aesthetic that relays the pure essentials of speed.
Evolving from the 2019 Mercurial 360, the silo moves away from Flyknit and introduces a new Vaporposite upper that combines a grippy grid mesh with premium lining for ball control at high speeds. Some would say, this provides the type of natural feel that players expect from a Mercurial style boot. Underfoot the Nike Aerotrak plate brings responsiveness for quick cuts and acceleration.
Then there is the release colorway. Pretty much as you’d expect, Nike go wild and vibrant to really draw immediate attention. The super bright launch colorway is made up of a digital psychedelic palette, inspired by a computer motherboard, which pays homage to iconic Mercurials over the past 23 years.
Led by athlete insight, the boot takes on four areas of focus:
- Fit: an upper that feels like a natural extension of the foot
- Touch: natural touch, helping athletes to maintain control at high speeds
- Traction: quick acceleration and breaking in all directions
- Style: brighter, lighter and faster
The new Nike Mercurial Vapor/Superfly Dragonfly will launch January 25 with full release February 1.
