The latest iteration of the Nike Mercurial Dream Speed has arrived, with this version inspired by the speed of the game. It is not often we see a new release drop on a Friday night, but Nike has decided to treat us to some inspiration heading into the weekend.
“These boots are all about chasing your dreams and doing whatever you can to achieve them,” says Cristiano Ronaldo. “One bit of advice I have for everyone to think about if you wear these boots: work hard and think big, and your dreams can come true.”
So, what exactly does the design have on offer? Nike has gone with a Black/White design that is highlighted with several different patterns, all of which have their own individual meaning:
- Wave patterns that characterize quickness.
- A dotted pattern that denotes formations used by winning teams across the years.
- A gridded, waved pattern represents the rippling effect made by a goal when scored.
- Safari print that pays homage to 10 years since their on pitch debut.
The boot is accentuated with a translucent plate and fluorescent coloring on the Swoosh that features a black and white color shift — this symbolizes the conceptual idea of past and present as a means to get wearers to their goals.
Another reason for their Friday night release? Nike has decided to let their key players wear them starting October 3rd (tomorrow), with the Mercurial Dream Speed 3 set for debuted on pitch by Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé and Sam Kerr, some of the world’s fastest players.
The Mercurial Dream Speed 3 will be available tomorrow at soccer.com.
Excited to see the release of the Nike Mercurial Dream Speed 3! The design looks incredible, and I can’t wait to hear about the performance on the pitch. Any thoughts on how they compare to the previous versions?
