One of the reasons many people love Umbro is for their consistency and ability to create classy style boots. Their latest release, the Tocco Pro, meshes the same classic style we expect from the double diamond with modern innovation. The result is a classic leather boot with the lightweight profile of a speed boot
The upper is made from a water resistant Italian Idro-leather with 75% less water absorption. Also placed across the upper is the awesome D3O technology, which reduces ball bounce and significantly enhances first touch accuracy. Across the midfoot, a layer of memory foam sits behind the leather. This allows the material to mould across your foot, providing a snug fit based on personal patterns of movement and playing style. The ankle collar has been specially engineered to provide easy access, exceptional comfort and security for the heel.
Underfoot, Umbro use their wishbone outsole that guarantees rigidity in the rear and arch, while allowing flexibility in the forefoot. It is also tooled using a dual density Pebax for maximum energy return, so you can keep covering those distances. The stud configuration maximises grip and endurance with low profile conical studs making them ideal for FG or AG surfaces.
First Look + Reaction
This pair arrived in directly from Umbro, offering us the opportunity to see exactly what they have on offer in-person. First reaction is that they are exactly what Umbro has advertised them as being. They offer that classic, traditional styling that you expect from an Umbro release. I’m a huge fan of D30 technology, so it’s inclusion takes them into the realm of modern innovative releases. Definitely interested to get them out onto a pitch and see exactly how they perform. Stay tuned for a review.
In terms of availability, the Tocco Pro can only be found at Umbro.com. We are not sure if there is a planned release across other US retailers, or if they will be kept in-house as a sole Umbro option. More details to follow as we get them.
