adidas and Paul Pogba have revealed their sixth season collection of co-created boots and apparel. This latest collection is heavily influenced by Pogba’s life away from the pitch and the bright lights that he is both drawn to followed by. Yet there is something important missing with the release, something that corrolates with one part of the release statement; influenced by his life away from the pitch.
It has been a while since we have seen Pogba play on the pitch, and his latest mystery illness only means the delay in seeing him wear them for the first time in games will only be delayed further. Seeing a boot released like this without some sort of on-pitch imagery (or any relevant images alongside Pogba) seems incredibly odd. Could it be that he is preparing a move in the January transfer window, and the first time we see him wear them is not in a Man Utd kit? I’ll be honest, as it stands there isn’t a whole lot about this release that gets me excited.
Back to the boot and its design. The adidas Predator 19+ PP is the highlight in the fresh line-up, using a special “space-dyed” yarn on the boot’s Primeknit upper to create a multi-colour look. It is an eye catching, dramatic and bold look that mirrors the on and off-pitch style of one of the game’s most expressive players. Whether it is graphics from his favorite music videos, illustrations from the manga comics he reads, or the design of the football pitch built inside his home, these things all have a common aesthetic of dark tones combined with neon elements.
