Word on the street is Raheem Sterling could sign a contract with Air Jordan and become the first player to wear their soccer cleats! Yes, Air Jordan is on the verge of becoming a contender in the soccer market, more likely to be seen as a limited collection that is part of the Nike family rather than an independent brand. With Sterling in the final year of his Nike contract, a £100m boot endorsement deal might be too tough to turn down. It would essentially be one of the most lucrative sponsorship deals in the history of the sport.
This got us thinking; what type of boot would Air Jordan create exclusively for Sterling? Well, currently he is wearing the Nike Phantom Venom, a boot geared toward creators without a direct focus on speed. He wore the Nike Hypervenom Phantom before that, so he clearly appreciates a boot that has a little extra texture for optimal touch and control on the ball. So, a perfected boot wouldn’t be geared toward lightweight speed like you might expect for a player that loves to dribble at top speed. Instead, you are looking at a more agile boot with some sort of definition across the upper. Whatever the style, I’m definitely excited to have another option on the market that is differentiated from the rest.
Stay tuned for any updates we get on what could be a sensational potential partnership! And out of interest, would you guys actually be interested in wearing them?
