It turned out to be a tough night for Lyon and Memphis Depay vs Barcelona last night, but at least the Dutch star got to show off some pretty exquisite custom boots on the biggest stage! Over the past few days, Memphis has dropped several images and details to build some excitement for what would have been an incredible stage to showcase them on.
Visually, the design is intended to replicate the static picture you’d see on an old school TV not tuned into the correct channel. This colorful static is intended to create a distortion effect, or the desire to “Block Out The Noise.” For Memphis, it is all about blocking out the negative and focusing on the positives.
The actual boot used looks like a slightly modified version of the UA Spotlight, a boot Memphis has worn customs of in the past. We haven’t heard a lot about the Spotlight silo in recent times, and to be honest it seems like UA are due some fresh new market releases right now. After establishing a name for themselves on the market over the past few seasons, they seem to have went into a lull recently.

On his posts, he lists it as a sneak peek. We are not sure if that was related to him wearing them in game or if pairs are set to be released to retail. We certainly hope pairs are released as the design is pretty wild. I’m sure there would be a host of players out there ready to wear them and block out the haters!
