For many players, owning a pair of Umbro boots was a given during their youth playing days. The Double Diamond has a reputation for producing quality boots, but they have been very quiet over the past few years here in the US.
One of the newest additions to the market is the Velocita IV Pro, a speed boot with a serious attitude and slightly weird design. One look at the upper leaves you wondering what is going on, why in the world does the upper have a bunch of diamond shaped cut out? It is definitely not your everyday, run of the mill, styled boot.

Umbro use a unique adaptive tri-layer synthetic upper construction that is designed to expand and contract as you wear them, providing a custom fit for comfort and stability. As strategies go, this is a unique one, especially since the upper is a synthetic. The real benefit, in my opinion, is the fact the areas where material has been cut out adds some additional texture that helps with touch and control on the ball.
And then there is the ankle collar design. Umbro has created a sock like construction around the ankle that is contoured for improved fit and increased comfort during wear. On foot, it really adds to the value of the boot, as it gives you a more secure fit, with the feeling of the sock providing a more centered feeling. This is not a knit material, and it doesn’t reach higher on your ankle than similar adidas and Nike releases. But in reality that won’t be a bad thing for players that want a more traditional styling that takes on a modern approach.
My favorite part of the boot has to be the soleplate. I love what Umbro has done with the traction system, providing players with a low profile design, a flat plate that has some added texturing, and conical studs. The result is a boot PERFECT for use on turf or AG surfaces. It is the type of design that balances pressure right across your foot, ensuring you are comfortable and in control while playing on artificial surfaces.
If this is a boot you want more details on, let us know in the comments and we will give you additional information.
Otherwise – and this is the good part – you can find them on sale right now, at a ridiculously low price that makes them a worthy pick-up. Pairs are currently on sale for as little as $99.99, which would be half of the original $199.99 retail price. We are not sure how long that deal will last, but as long as it does, they are worth checking out!

How is the fit midfoot? I have a wide foot and don't want to have to return them.
Don't get these, they are terrible. I have a medium to wide foot and the way the upper feels is so uncomfortable. It's near impossible to get a good fit with these because if you tie them a little too tight then your foot feels extremely compressed (because of the stretchy upper) and if you loosen them then the lockdown and responsiveness, which already wasn't amazing because of the stretchy upper gets much worse. The heel liner has a seam running down the middle that almost gave me a blister before I took them off. They also run a half size large, which really annoyed me because every online review said that they were true to size.
Tight around the midfoot; I'd look elsewhere to be safe.
