If you have been wondering what boot all match officials have been wearing at the World Cup in Russia, it is a special edition adidas Copa Mundial.
What makes these so unique is the fact the Copa Mundial is celebrating it’s 10th World Cup appearance. As a result, adidas has added some special touches to make referee’s look a little more dapper on pitch. 351 pairs have been exclusively made for the tournament in the Sanino factory in Prnjavo, Bosnia-Herzegovina. Each pair is designed with a unique gold threading and features a special World Cup logo on the heel.
At least we know that no matter how bad their performances are, every referee will at least look the part in Russia! Right? I’m waiting for the game where a player runs up making the VAR sign and a ref shrugs his shoulders, just points at his boots and says “yeah, but take a look at these beauties!”
Although you can’t purchase this particular version of the Copa Mundial, standard issue pairs are available in “the most classic of classic colorways” from soccer.com.
