With his 5th Ballon d’Or title secured this week, Ronaldo received yet another signature release to celebrate his personal accomplishments and 2017 performances.
Welcome in the special edition Nike Mercurial Superfly CR7 Quinto Triunfo boots, a boot dipped in Gold to represent the best player currently in the game. As with his previous award-themed boots, gold is prominently featured. Unlike previous boots, “CR7” appears on the heel counter, but not on the medial side. This creates room for additional placement of a very special Swoosh that adorns both sides. Within the Swoosh and visible with movement, the years of his previous and current Ballon d’Or awards appear: 2008, 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Why do we bring this feature effect up? Well, it is a treatment used for the first time by Nike, offering up a completely new wave of ways to customize boots.
Overall, this is a bold new design from Nike that kind of meshes what we have seen on swoosh releases to date, while also taking advantage of enhanced design techniques. Side note in case you were wondering, “Quinto Triunfo” translates as “Fifth Win.”
Who Will Wear Them?
Although he didn’t wear them this weekend, Ronaldo will make an appearance on pitch at least once with them on.
Outside of that, there will be one thousand, individually numbered, Quinto Triunfo boots released worldwide. For anyone interested in buying a pair, December 14 will be the day.
