The big question this week surrounds the one and only Zlatan Ibrahimovic, with the Manchester United striker sporting an unexpected boot choice at training. Rather than wearing his customary Nike Mercurial Vapor’s, he instead took to the pitch in some custom adidas X16.1, Stellar Pack edition.
Back in the summer before he signed up to be a Red Devil, Zlatan was spotted wearing some adidas boots, which intensified rumors he was set to sign for the 3-stripe sponsored club. But, a switch of this nature would be pretty monumental in the boot world. Throughout his career, Zlatan has been a consistent Nike wearer, and he is key in their advertising circles. You only have to look at the #DareToZlatan campaign to see that. So, his decision to switch allegiance would be a big plus for adidas, and a small dagger in the ankle for Nike. This is not the first time we have seen Zlatan play around with his boot, case in point this article from November 2014.
Then again, he could just be testing out some adidas boots, or he could be pulling a Zlatan as he lines up an improved Nike contract. It is a case of watch this space to see where he goes from here!
Hey Bryan,
I play centre back and have generally worn Magista in the past. I like them but I'm looking at some other shoes, any recommendations? (I've Heard good things about Mizuno).
Stephen
The Mizuno Morelia Neo is a solid boot, well worth checking out. Nike Tiempo Legend and adidas PURECHAOS are two more worth exploring.
I think that Sergio Ramos may have also switched to Adidas…
