Not my favorite boot in the world, but New Balance are sure pulling out some excellent colorways in the Furon series. Following up on the recently released Blackout version of the boot, NB has adding a touch of flair with some Impulse Orange detailing through the boot.
The boots are designed for players who ‘Take Chances’ on the pitch. Valencia CF striker Álvaro Negredo and Manchester City midfielder Jesús Navas will be the first to debut this sleek look over the coming weeks. Built for speed and agility, the Furon boots looks to enhance these physical attributes. This is captured by the High-Energy Return Upper for explosive release velocity and a stiffened soleplate for exceptional energy return and unparalleled acceleration. Also built into the boot is the ultra-directional stud design for unrivaled straight-line speed.
Since finding ourselves a pair, we haven’t been very kind to the Furon for several reasons. The most important is that the upper material feels like it is made of a stiff wax paper that has dried out. This in turn creates some additional challenges through the lacing as you attempt to get your foot in and out. It kind of feels like putting on a swimming fin! So from a performance perspective, they lack that killer appeal.
But, from a design standpoint, NB continue to get the visual effect right with sleek lines and colors creating an energizing boot. If we were going of looks alone, these would be right up there with some of the best 2016 releases to date. What do you guys think?
The new Furon boot colourways are available to pre-order now at www.newbalance.com/football, and will be on sale globally from 26th November 2015.
