Two months ago New Balance announced a 5 year deal with Glaswegian giants Celtic to produce their kits. Now we’re finally able to get a look at what New Balance have produced for the recently crowned Scottish Premier League champions.
As one would expect New Balance kept with tradition in creating a kit with green and white hoops. The result is a classy looking offering which any Celtic supporter would be happy to be sporting on match day, or perhaps on their next trip down to the shops.
There’s also a couple of nice additions to this Celtic kit, the first one being the addition of the Celtic Football Club motto “A club like no other”. It’s a slogan which is undeniable, Celtic is a club which was first constituted to raise money for the poor children of the East End of Glasgow. They’re the only British club to win the quintuple a feat they accomplished with a squad of players who were all born within 30 miles of Celtic Park. It’s a motto that every player who’s ever worn the hooped top has known, and now they’ll be wearing it.
The second addition to the kit is a Celtic cross on the back of the kit. The cross served as the original crest of the club and has made a kind of re-appearance since the clubs 125th anniversary two years ago.
Celtic are one of the first clubs to sign on with New Balance who haven’t carried over from the Warrior brand. While the Warrior brand had a tendency to push the boundaries of good taste when designing kits, it’s nice to see New Balance keeping them simple and classy!
