Puma is back with another custom designed boots, designed specifically for and by one of their key players. Mario Balotelli was the fist player to be given the individual treatment, via his Italian styled evoPOWERs, this time around Marco Reus is the chosen player with the design featured on some evoSPEEDs. One of the first things you will notice about the design is that it features a two-tone design and he has pair homage to Der BVB by sticking with the official colors of the German club.
Reus was instrumental in the design of the boot, with the folks at Puma HQ picking his brain on what mattered to him most. It was the concept of “hope” and its significance for children around the World that stood out. With that in mind, a pair of joined hands was added to the instep of the boot (right on the region where you cushion the ball.) The image depicts an adult and childs hand joined together, with the image created using strategically positioned text and shading – all of which is intended to share inspiration. What gives it added meaning is that the text almost looks like it is tattooed onto the hand and arms, and anyone that knows about Reus will be familiar with the fact he has plenty of tattoos along his arms.
Looking at the boot from a distance, it seems like Puma has gone with that dimple style micro-texture along the forefoot of the boot. Take them up close and things change dramatically – each of those dimples offers a silhouette representation of children, increasing the intricate detailing effect of the boot.
Also worth noting, Proceeds from the sale of these boots will be used to support a local children’s hospital in Dortmund.
The evoSPEED 1.3 Tricks MR is created using the existing evoSPEED 1.3 boot as its base – so you can expect similar type performance from this release should you choose to take them out of the box and wear it in game. With only 400 pairs available worldwide, they are expected to see out very fast!
