One of the reasons we have the blog is to add valuable content that extends past the reach of just boots. Earlier today, this one arrived in and is definitely worth a shout-out in case there is anyone out there looking for valuable ways to “give back”.
Evanston, IL – September 2, 2014 – Unlike most kids her age who spend their summer at the beach or at summer camp, Olivia Post, a senior at Evanston Township High School and varsity goalkeeper, was in the mountains of Panajachel, Guatemala teaching and training 60 boys and girls in the art of soccer.
The year prior to her trip, Olivia gathered over 600 pieces of gently used gear donated by The Chicago Fire, Evanston Township High School, Glenbrook South High School, Sockers FC, Team Evanston, friends and teammates.
“The soccer gear was great to hand out, but I learned what the kids and coaches needed more than gear, was good soccer balls,” stated Olivia. Thanks to Camp Shutout and Wisconsin Men’s Soccer Coach Stan Anderson, Olivia had brought 40 balls with her, but she came back from Guatemala with a mission; to make a match quality hand sewn soccer ball that is affordable, so when one is bought, one can be donated.
“I wanted to help, so I created oNe™, a socially-conscious company, that would match every ball purchased with a new ball given to a deserving child, club or team in need. Buy oNe, Give oNe, “ stated Olivia.
Olivia worked with some of the leading designers in Pakistan to design 6 different colored balls that meet the strict FIFA requirements. “A soccer ball can change a person’s life. From street soccer, to playing in the backyard, to the pros, oNe™ ball can make a difference,” continued Olivia
Olivia Post is on a mission to put soccer balls at the feet of deserving boys and girls, check out her Kickstarter campaign or head to the oNe Soccer Ball website.
