It is one of those days where adidas blow the mind by releasing a bulk selection of boots in fresh new colorways. This time around, it is all about Blackout and Whiteout boots, and the ranges that have been focused upon are the Predator Instinct and Copa. Here, we take a look at the iconic Copa Mundial and entertain the beautiful nature of the K-Leather boot in a single tone.
You might recall last Autumn when Adidas released a fresh White/Black version before kicking off 2014 with a very provocative Samba Copa Mundial collection as a way to celebrate the World Cup in Brazil.
Released in 1982, the Copa Mundial is the best-selling boot in football history and has been worn by some of the all-time greats including Franz Beckenbauer, Michel Platini, Zico & Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. Since then it has been sold over 10 million times and was actually the last revolutionary product innovation created by sporting goods legend and founder of the adidas brand Adi Dassler. He had been personally involved in the early development of the original Copa Mundial before he passed away in 1982.
As far as performance goes, you can’t really beat the Copa range for quality and consistency. It is a boot that ranks among the favorites of even the pickiest players. They come with an outsole constructed of dual-density direct injected Polyurethane and moulded, conical studs that will suit both FG and modern AG surfaces. From the classic extended leather tongue down, the boot boasts a kangaroo leather upper section made from the softest ‘K’ leather available.
Final note, love that these releases hit the market right after we unleashed our “Guide to boots for experienced players“. Well played with your timing Adidas.
