Puma evoSPEED Alife – Limited Edition Streetwear Collection

Puma evoSPEED 1.2 Alife

A few months back, the folks at Puma put together a collaboration with 4 top fashion designers to produce custom releases in the evoSPEED series. Each was part of the World Cup streetwear collection and the numbers put on sale were extremely limited.

Teaming up with BAPEALIFECOLETTE and KITH, each individual release has its own unique visual appearance and merges iconic fashion with soccer. An edition of the boot dropped exclusively on each of the individual brands website during the World Cup in the following format: Bape on July 4th, Alife on June 7th, Colette on July 10th and finally Kith on July 13th. Then we found out last week that WorldSoccerShop had snagged several pairs to sell to a slightly larger soccer audience!

With that, we snagged a pair of the evoSPEED ALIFE in order to piece together an unboxing and offer some slightly different up-close images of the boot for those interested in trying to get a pair. There is, to date, very limited information about the boots available, so we see this as the perfect opportunity to educate on a very wild and bold design.

Why wild and bold? Well, the actual design is not what w had expected before getting them in hand. The Alife brand is pretty brash and expressionistic. Their decision to place lighters across the upper goes against the norms and expectations of what soccer players want to see on their boots. Each of the small Green, Blue and Red panels that cover the upper are lighters. So the design is essentially a broadsheet layer of lighters that covers the entire boot. To be honest, I’m surprised that Puma decided to partner and place their name beside Alife, a brand that doesn’t have the most family friendly appeal. It seems like an odd decision, something that is highlighted in the design choice for these boots.

None-the-less, they are a piece of artistic fashion and are available to pick up on a limited basis for those that want something radically different, something that you are not likely to see any other player wearing in your Sunday league or college game! Then again, they might just be the perfect pick-up for your display collection.

For those interested in technology, these are the evoSPEED 1.2 model boot, they feature a smooth upper, internal EverFit cage for durability on the thin microfiber material, a SpeedTrack soleplate system for support, and a solid external heel counter for protection. Check out our unboxing video below for a closer look at what they have to offer.

Currently find the evoSPEED Alife listed at WorldSoccerShop.com.
