Despite flying under the radar for most of its development Adidas’ Samba Primeknit certainly made a splash with its unveiling today. Also making news at the unveiling was that Liverpool’s Luis Suarez will be the face of the new boot.
Being able to use Suarez as the face of a new boot line is a real coup for Adidas, as there’s arguably not a more in form player in the world at the moment. He’s been on a literal tear all season in the Premiership, and it’s widely expected that he’ll make another big splash at this summers World Cup.
Given the low weight (5.8oz) of the boot, and the single piece upper which provides both stability and unparalleled flexibility, it is obvious that Suarez would be the idea candidate to face the range. He is after all a player who’s well known for using his pace and agility to beat opposition defenders and create goal scoring chances, so boot which has been designed with his input has the chance to make him a positively scary force going forward.
As covered in Primeknit reveal, the boot officially drops to the public on the 17th of March, however, they’ll officially be re-unveiled one day prior during Liverpool’s away match versus Manchester United. And given the way Suarez has been playing all season you wouldn’t bet against it being a banner day for Adidas’ newest release.
Any opinions on the new Primeknit release? Do you see any challenges with the design?
