Cristiano Ronaldo Wins the Ballon d’Or

CR Ballon d'Or

Ah, how bittersweet this award will taste for Cristiano Ronaldo, and he showed true emotion when accepting the award. The Real Madrid striker is absolutely deserving of the 2013 Ballon d’Or title, one which he thought he should have taken the previous year having lead his club to a La Liga title. In 2012/2013, Barca took the title, yet this is the year he takes the world’s best player title.

We all remember the grimace CR shared with us after hearing Messi’s name being announced last year, and this has somewhat been a redemption year where he set out to prove his value. 66 goals in 56 games for club and country later, he is the man most deserving of the personal award. He also bagged an incredible 9 hattricks in that period also, dynamite!

Side note; what about that suit Lionel Messi had on? If it was a ploy to steal some of the spotlight, it definitely worked!

Everything Mercurial Vapor seems to revolve around CR and Nike has consistently decked him out in his own custom releases through his career. 2013 brought a new level of CR custom designs and he sported 5 different colorways through the year.

It all kicked off with the limited edition CR7 Mercurial IX. They only got 2 games before he switched to the original Fireberry release. March brought the release of the second Vapor IX custom design, and this one was rainbow colorful! The White/Neon Orange/Neon Yellow colorway came as part of the CR Summer ’13 collection. Into Reals summer tour to the US, he wore the Volt/Bright Citrus colorway and continued sporting them into the current season. In October, he switched to the Vapor IX Supernova and those are the boots he wore through the end of the year.

  1. Havent watched ceremony but it would have been awesome if he also mentioned Eusebio

    Good year for C.Ron

Hope he keeps it up like Eusebio did

  2. Honestly I think that he deserves the award. My main problem is that he was almost obsessed with the fact that he wanted to win it. I think that any players main concern should be about having fun with their sport at any level and not about winning awards. At the end of the day the only thing I desire is to play at the highest level I can and to have fun!
