It is that time of year, with European leagues underway and the excitement of Winter football just on the horizon. Being that most US eyes are focused on the EPL, you will be well aware that rain and dark days are not too far off. For that reason, Nike has pieced together a new collection of colorways to help players adapt to their conditions – the Hi-Vis Winter Collection.
The Nike Hypervenom, Mercurial IX, CTR360 and Tiempo IV are all set to stand out as they feature bright and contrasting color combinations of Electro Purple, Volt, Green Glow and Electric Green.
The science of color and visual cues has long been of high important to Nike and it is again extremely evident in this range. Phil McCartney, Vice President of Nike Football Footwear, had the following quote on the subject.
When creating this Hi-Vis Collection we looked at our work in South Africa during the summer of 2010. The Metallic Purple and Total Orange color combination we used on-pitch really stood out both on the field for players and for the crowds in the stadium and at home.
Here is a breakdown on each of the boots and whats on offer, or you can head over and check out the entire Hi-Vis collection currently on offer.

Nike CTR360 Maestri III – Volt/Black/Green Glow
Available for $200 at Soccer.com.
When it comes to boots defined for a specific type of player, the CTR360 Maestri was the very first. We have become accustomed to the playmaker boot being a top option for crafty, creative attacking mids that strive to open up a game with killer passes and great control. As worn by players such as Andres Iniesta and Landon Donovan.

Nike Tiempo Legend IV – Volt/Black/Green Glow
Available for $160 at Soccer.com.
Even though we are long overdue a new Tiempo Legend release (watch this space), it doesn’t mean another rendition of the glorious heritage boot will not be greatfully accepted. It is refreshing to see a sparkly, new luminous polish places on the usually more traditional boot. Andres Pirlo and Javier Hernandez and two players that wear the range – although I’d be surprised if Pirlo decides to wear this specific color!
