October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and Puma are back with a signature Men’s release as tribute to the issue. Puma Project Pink has played an important role in highlighting breast awareness over the past few years.
This seasons we get a Pink edition of the lightning fast evoSPEED 1, which follows in the footsteps of the popular Pink V1.11 release from last October. The look is bold and players who decide to wear them will be setting a brave and all important statement. Unlike other occasions, this is one case where wearing a Pink boot can only be a positive thing. Since I am a big fan of the evoSPEED, this is actually one of the first Pink boots that might find their way onto my feet without any questions asked!
In terms of retail, you can get the evoSPEED 1 men’s version for $184.99, while there is a women’s evoSPEED 3 version available for $109.99.
So, what is the Puma evoSPEED 1 all about?
Weighing in at 6.3oz, the evoSpeed 1 is all about speed and acceleration, The upper is made of a thin monolayer microfiber upper that features a dot-pattern along the forefoot for added control benefits, while stability is provided by the internal EverFit cage. The anatomically engineered lightweight one-piece outsole provides stability and support, utilizing high-tech materials to minimize weight and to maximize its flexibility and reactivity.
One area of real interest is the soleplate and stud configuration. Puma has removed all carbon fiber materials and gone for a TPU outsole instead. Mixed with a completely different stud configuration to that of the V series, it makes for interesting results – especially with the pink tips on this version!
Finally, just to note – PUMA will donate 100% of the profits from the sale of Project Pink gear, plus $1 every time a fan tweets the hashtag #projectpink.
Are PUMA really using some of the evoSPEED 3 specs? Design of the upper and insole? #projectpink
Love me some flashy pink cleats (Mercurial Vapor Superfly II, Graphic Pink Adizero) but these might be too flashy…for me, at least. Bryan said it best: gotta be brave to play in those. That being said, it is for a terrific cause. Go PUMA!
i am brave enough (:
I say this with no sarcasm: mad props to you, my man. Seriously. Hope you play amazing in those!
If i could afford a pair, Id so wear them. Pink is AWESOME! not all the time but if it is for cancer. Id love to show my support.
lovin the cleats + the cause of breast cancer awareness!
on a side note: yesterday I ran 4 miles barefoot, and blistered terribly on the heels and balls of my foot. I drained the heel blisters, with the skin intact, and it feels much better. however on the balls of my feet the blisters have torn and are pretty painful when i try to walk. i have cleaned and put antibiotic on them.
so, how long do you guys think it will take for the blisters to heal? cuz i have 2 league games this weekend and my team needs me 🙁
ps any help will be greatly appreciated. thnx everyone
It takes a while for them to fully heal, but in my experience it takes a couple days (in most cases) for them to reach the point where you can run without being in too much discomfort.
If you want to speed up the healing, try to have them exposed to open air as much as possible, even if that means being barefoot. Of course, only do this if you can do so hygenically.
Go purchase Johnson & Johnson medicated blister pads. Apply them when you are out and about during the day.
When you are home, try to be barefoot as best you can and apply Polysporin to them.
If you haven't healed by the weekend, you may need to apply the blister pads AND tape your foot/ankle to keep them in place.
Did evoSpeed always have those panel things on the side?
Guys,
These need to be worn to see just how light & comfortable they are. I received a promo pair & put them to work. I currently wear CTR Maestri III & was amazed at the lightweight design. Very comfortable & almost no break-in period. The PInk stands out a bit, but it proves you want to save the boobs. Support Proj Pink!
