If you are on the market for a highly visible yet somber release, there is probably none better than this new installment of the Umbro Speciali 3. Officially listed as a Pearlized White/Black/Pewter, this colorway carries a clean K-leather upper with some off-beat detailing. Built to be a traditional, no nonsense boot, the look actually meshes pretty well with what you would expect from the range.
The first image that came to mind when I see these first was “Pirates of the Carribean” although I have no idea why! It could be that smokey Pewter color that lines the soleplate and is used as detailing on the upper. Either way, it is a refined look that works.
This version has an initial retail price of $130, which is pretty ideal for their category.
In terms of performance and having tested them, the Speciali gives players an upper that consists of a K-leather strike zone, for supreme feel and touch on the ball. Umbro also offer a microfiber through the heel to reduce weight and improve the boots overall durability. A soft micro-fiber collar lines the ankle line for improved comfort – something I will never complain about. The lacing system has been switched up for the first time on a Speciali release, with an asymmetrical lacing design offering a larger strike zone.
It is quite evident that Umbro are confident in the performance of their soleplate, sticking with the same contoured last used in the original Speciali, known for its professional, snug fit. And conical dual-density studs are employed to create a very classic looking boot. Weight wise, they come in at a very encouraging 9.2oz.
nice clean colorway!
