With all its class, panache and high-performance features, the Adidas adiPower Predator range has been missing one thing – a Blackout release! Well, wait any longer, as this latest mono-tone version is now available and on the market. We don’t see Blackout releases that often, but when they hit the market it brings with it a breath of fresh air, with fans eager for a pair of boots that won’t burn your retina! The official colorway is listed as a Black/Black/Black (as you would expect!). Pick up a pair at Soccer.com.
Like many of you, I am excited to see this Blackout version of the adiPower Predator. Companies will tell you that the reason we don’t see a great deal of blackout releases, is due to the nature of advertising – unlike the more colorful boots, these are not that easy to spot and don’t “promote” the brand. Their argument seems legit, but I wouldn’t be surprised if these boots get as much attention as a multicolored release due to the fact they are unique to the market. These type of colorways are the ones that now stand out, something that is very odd.
One other note, is it just me or does it seem like the Predator Zone and the heel cup comes in a sort of metallic blue shade? Maybe it is the lighting but they don’t quite look like a full blackout to me. I am definitely eager to see them in person!
The adiPower Predator itself is a pretty fantastic boot and it mimics the qualities we expect from a top line Adidas release. The overall look and performance of the 11th Predator incarnation is very competitive and they offer a great mix of power with a lightweight feel. Adidas has re-engineered the entire Predator Zone in a pretty cool way and now refer to it as the Predator Element. Basically, a silicon rubber is strategically positioned and tuned to create a uniform surface with rebound effect, for those times when you need some extra power behind your shots.
If you decide to pick up a pair, they have a retail price of $200.
