Umbro is a company that has been on a bit of a war path lately, with some top performance recent releases. The company seemed to have been on a bit of a slump over the past few years, but with recent releases like the highly acclaimed Geometra Pro, Umbro now looks like a re-energized company. This initial GT II Pro offers an extremely vibrant look, with Umbro choosing a pretty fluid Blue Radiance/Black/Orange Popsicle colorway.
Having seen plenty of success with the initial GT Pro release, the upgraded version comes in at a lighter weight thanks in part to a Japanese micro-fibre upper. It provides both softness and strength, while the asymmetric concealed lacing providing a greater strike zone. All of these factors build upon the hype it has received as a contendor in the lightweight/speed boot section of the market. Picking up on a Nike strategy, Umbro has also trimmed the FG version even further by including hollowed out blades.
These boots have just hit soccer.com with a retail price of $150, which is exactly what we had expected when we heard about the boots several weeks ago. They weigh in at a very respectable 8.8oz, which is the ideal all-round weight.
