Deemed to be the classy boot in Nike’s wide collection of soccer cleats, the Tiempo legend III offers a no-nonsense, high performing option at a decently competitive price. The Tiempo Legend range falls into the same category as the likes of the Adidas adiPure and Puma King Finale, with a more well rounded package and limited technology. The official colorway of this latest release comes in a pretty unusual Team Red/Metallic Platinum/Deep Burgundy colorway.
You have two options when it comes to the Tiempo Legend III range: go for the regular version or go for the Elite version. I had the opportunity to test the regular version a few months back and found they offered a very competitive level of performance, with the K-Leather upper offering a fantastic feel and high level of durability – once broken in that is! I did find them to fit a half size tight with what seems like a narrow to medium width.
The Elite version offers a completely different experience. Rather than a K-Leather upper, you are getting a synthetic Kangalite leather that offers a considerably lighter feel. Added to a carbon fiber soleplate, the Elite version weighs in at an impressive 8.2oz (compared to 10.2oz for the regular.)
For comparison, the above images show the Elite version, while the bottom image is of the regular version. The biggest difference aesthetically lies in the soleplate. If you are interested in the Elite version, they retail for around $280, while the regular version cost a far more economical $165.
