New Feature: Reviews by Alfonso Motagalvan

Alfonso UCSB

I am very aware that having two reviews to compare a boot on is often better than having one. With that in mind, I have recruited current professional soccer player Alfonso Motagalvan to give his opinions on certain new releases and boots that he will be testing out over the next few months.

Alfonso has been a part of teams that have won the NCAA National Championship (UCSB 2006) and the PDL Championship (Ventura County Fusion 2009). He also scored the winning goal in the 2009 PDL championship game. Currently, he plies his trade professionally with the Rochester Rhinos.

Cleat Size: I wear a size 9US
Sneaker Size:
10US
Current Team: Rochester Rhinos in the NASL Division 2.
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Style of Play: I am a type of player that see’s the field and is able to control the tempo of the game switches the point of attack.  Smart player that reads the game on both sides of the ball.  Breaks up the other teams attack.
Foot Type: My foot is wide so I typically chose leather cleats instead of Nike Vapors or cleats that are predominantly made out of plastic or synthetic material.

What do you typically look for in a boot?
When looking for a new boot the first thing I look for is comfort because if it feels right then I feel more confident, allowing me to perform at the top of my game.  If a cleat doesn’t feel right then I end up paying more attention to the boot instead of the game.  The next thing I look for is touch because if you have a clean first touch you are able to do much more with the ball.

First review for Alfonso will be the Nike CTR360 Maestri, which he is currently wearing (stay tuned). If you want to find out more about Alfonso check out this video.

  1. Hey Alfonso, you said that you are wore Adidas your whole life right? and your feet are wide?

my feet are wide and the adidas boots are narrow for me.

  2. John,

Alfonso has worn the Adidas adiPure, and they tend to fit medium/wide (check out our review)
