Nike have released a new version of their accuracy focused Total90 Laser III in a very red version. the official color is Challenge Red/White/Dark Shadow. What is different about these to previous releases is the fact that Nike have colored the five pods along the strike zone red, just like the primary color of the boot. I actually like this aspect a lot, especially in the red version (I don’t think this would have worked on the original green release.) I am also a fan of the T90 writing in white along the heel of the boot. It looks a lot better than it would if it was in black as it has been so far in the range.
I reviewed the T90 Laser earlier this year and they performed really well. The pods and fins add some very unique aspects to the boot. I was not completely persuaded by the technology, and still have some reservations about the fins but from feedback, it seems that players notice a difference while wearing them. In terms of actual comfort they rate highly. I did encounter some discomfort around on my little toe because of the design, where there is a line of stitching, but I simply taped my toe and it resolved the issue. One final thing to note, and I am not trying to freak you out, but guess what boots I was wearing when I suffered an ankle injury back in February? Of course it wasn’t the boot that caused the injury…it was a nasty tackle!
Compared to the T90 Laser II, these are a much needed and welcome upgrade. Overall, I rate the Total 90 Laser III highly and would recommend them for players who want a comfortable boot that offers great touch and control attributes.
