Clint Dempsey passed a milestone by playing in his 50th and 51st international games this past week. Although the results were mixed for the USA, Dempsey played well and stood-out as he wore his personalized Nike Mercurial Superfly’s in Saturdays game at Soldier Field against Honduras. With the Superfly yet to be re-released, Nike are keeping them in the spotlight by allowing players like Dempsey to continue wearing them. It has been evident over the past year that the Fulham winger is the centerpiece of Nike’s US campaign for their current range of Vapors. In a white/black/red, Dempsey’s current Superfly’s sport the ‘Don’t thread on me’snake coiled up at the back of the cleat. He also has his Daughters name, Elyse, imprinted on the side of the cleat. Dempsey got the assist on Carlos Bocanegra’s winning goal against Honduras and after the game Dempsey had this to say about his captain: “He did a great job. He’s someone that is always sniffing around the box, and throughout his career he has shown that he can score goals no matter where he’s been, and it was great for us.”
Even though the Superfly’s are still on the shelves, the Nike Mercurial Vapor V is available. Nike have stated that they will be releasing the Superfly in time for the new Premier League season. With the latest release of the Vapor V just being released in a Platinum/red, it is sure to be the next release when we again see the Superfly on the market. Expect to see them in the next 2 months! Check out what is currently availalbe in the Vapor V right now!
